I tried to use Gemini for one of my projects a month ago. Immediately after signing up and paying for credits, I got an email saying, “Action required: your billing account {redacted} is past due or has invalid payment information.” I have no idea why it says this. My credit card on file works. My balance updated with a new amount from that card. 11 days later, my account was terminated. I still don’t understand what went wrong or how to fix it. I do pay for OpenAI, Anthropic, and ElevenLabs keys.

run a 2-person custom dev agency and we just shipped our own saas, so ai is basically our co-founder at this point. i currently maintain active subscriptions for claude pro and google ai pro. honestly, the roi is completely undeniable when you factor in how much time it saves us on boilerplate code, debugging, and drafting initial architectures. we also sprinkle in some midjourney and elevenlabs for asset generation when we need it. for a small team trying to ship fast, the $40-$60/mo we spend on core llms is by far the cheapest overhead we have.

I ran a popular gen AI audio website on them as an on-prem GPU cluster. 6.5M MAU with $650k ARR at peak. Half the inference happening locally. We got destroyed by bigger players (ElevenLabs, Suno, and more recently Fish) that fundraised and had better in-house models. It was a headache to run, I wanted to pursue a different market (video/creative), and I pivoted. My pivot failed and was dead for over a year as I went too far into controllability. One of my changes then got a semblance of PMF and it's doing $4M annualized run rate (but it's not fundable in its current shape).
