OpenAI's claimed disproof of Connes' Rigidity Conjecture is invalid [pdf]

You're not a mathematician and have no business being involved in this at all. The author the OP called a "Crackpot" graduated Valedictorian of University of Missouri at Kansas City. She provides detailed proofs in lean with correct labels. Grok, Claude, and Gemini have verified her proofs. Open AI Sol and above will not attempt to disprove a standing result from Open AI it's programmed not to and admits that, Nielsen showed it admitting that. OpenAI also admitted NIelsen's result is serious and merits consideration, despite the fact it's programmed not to acknowledge disproofs of OpenAI materials.

acerfur is an undergrad with zero experience. OpenAI hired him for slave labor. Can't possibly perform at this level, he has no background. Zip.

Ask HN: When will ChatGPT Voice be able to control my phone?

> I'll be happy to give OpenAI the keys to my phone if I had this feature. > Can somebodhy explain to me why this isn't implemented yet? My guess? Almost no-one is happy to give their phone keys to notoriously unreliable chatbots.

The House of Ellison Is on the Brink

AI-written :( But if true the thesis as I understand is: Oracle is dependent on OpenAI, and so is on shaky ground. I skimmed the article but struggle to read through the Claude-isms to whatever it's trying to say. It's not as bad as some articles. I got lost at the end with the Israel stuff.

Ask HN: When will ChatGPT Voice be able to control my phone?

I am using ChatGPT voice on my phone and it's great. It even understands greek (my language). But it's jailed inside the phone. Why? Why can't it control my phone? Is it technical? I don't think so. Is it security? I'll be happy to give OpenAI the keys to my phone if I had this feature. Can somebodhy explain to me why this isn't implemented yet? If people from OpenAI are reading this, implement it now and get my money!!!

Four Time Scales for Technology Development and Deployment

I read Rodney's past predictions on LLM's. There's not a _single_ one that was high information. Not a single one that made me go "hey this was actually a good call, it was very hard to catch that in hindsight". Almost all his predictions were low signal, just correcting the hype and doom from extremes. If I'm wrong, please show me one thing he said (almost everyone has one thing tbh but lets see) that would make everyone go: yeah this guy had foresight. Edit: he made some directional claims on LLM's: that they were so hyped that OpenAI was not even worth the $30 billion valuation in 2024[1]. It is now worth ~$1 trillion. For a pundit who puts his reputation on the line on single falsifiable claims like this, he has a really bad prediction pattern. Like, the one high signal claim he made …

Ten advances in mathematics and theoretical computer science

> no details about the proof do you really imagine a scenario where OpenAI would claim to solve it and not give details about the proof? how is this even possible? why would anyone believe them?

AI financial advice is surprisingly good, especially if you ask right questions

You need to be signed in to a paid account + change the default thinking effort. I imagine that OpenAI will eventually roll out smarter models to the free unsigned version, but it's just a delay that also causes public perception delay

Don't credit the LLM

This whole discussion is a result of Claude using "Co-authored-by" as advertisement because it massively propagates the Claude logo to GitHub. As an advertisement strategy, this is extremely impressive. Unfortunately, it conflates what's meant by co-authoring. Because so far, Claude has not claimed sovereignty as an artificial intelligence, so actually, mentally crediting Claude is like crediting Vim or Emacs. We don't have to think of our tools as being authors just because Anthropic did. The Co-authored-by had a real meaning related to accountability. Putting our tool in front of us is like letting our cat drive the car. I mean, it's fine if it sits in our lap with the paws on the wheel wearing sunglasses. Just don't pretend it is the one deciding the direction, taking critical turns. B…

Running Kimi K3 on MI355X at Better Performance per Dollar Than B300

This part sounds like AI assisted setting this up and benchmarking it: >The fix was trivially simple: zero-pad the head count 12→16, run the fast kernel, and extract the real 12 heads from the output. I've recently used a frontier AI (ChatGPT 5.6 Sol on ultra) to set up a much smaller local model, and the performance optimizations it introduced left the model totally incoherent. (The model just repeats a single character, etc.) When I see a line like the one I just quoted, it leaves me wondering if the setup is still coherent like a stock install of Kimi K3 on supported hardware. Did they run any benchmarks on it to see if it is still correct?

Ten advances in mathematics and theoretical computer science

To "solve it" would require either a single counter example disproving the claim, or a proof that the conjecture about the Riemann zeta function is true. If OpenAI claimed the conjecture to be true but provided no details about the proof then the first comment should absolutely be about lack of transparency.

Ok are you one of those people whose first reaction to such a news is “this is just marketing for OpenAI and we need transparency”? In that case you are just interested in culture wars and not results.

Zitron: "Everyone Has Been Sold a Lie" on AI

> the return on investment is going to come from having the largest mind control machine the world has even known This is what Google already was and continues to be. They didn't need OpenAI and Anthropic as foils to maintain that position or expand Google Cloud. If anything, they did all this work with Gemini despite what's happening on the sidelines. OpenAI secured their multinational defense contract with Project Stargate. I can easily see the extremely high demand to get rid of so many contractors with security clearances. No government believes that the risk of another Snowden-like whistleblower is worth the mediocre intelligence summaries. The loser will be Anthropic unless Microsoft buys them out for a lowball price at the last minute in an attempt to make Copilot less terrible.…

Gemini Robotics 2 brings whole body intelligence to robots

> Action LLMs work by generating text underneath This isn't true. Obviously there is a lot of variety in architecture, but in the prototypical example there are vision and languages encoders and an action decoder which decodes direction into action steps. Eg, Hugging Face SmolVLA: > Specifically, the VLM processes sensorimotor states, including images from multiple RGB cameras, and a language instruction describing the task. In turn, the VLM outputs features directly fed to the action expert, which outputs the final 3 continuous actions .[1] Or NVidia's GR00T N1: > A diffusion transformer (DiT) processes the robot’s proprioceptive state and action, which are then cross-attended with image and text tokens from the Eagle-2 VLM backbone to output the denoised motor actions .[2] (Emp…

Show HN: CostPerPrompt – Live AI API pricing and real-workload cost calculators

Author here — great question, and you've hit the exact reason the calculator uses an adjustable cache-hit ratio (default ~70%) instead of assuming 100%: real hit rates depend on session gaps, and TTLs differ a lot by provider. Rough current state: OpenAI's automatic caching typically keeps prefixes warm for ~5–60 min depending on load; Anthropic's default cache TTL is 5 min (extendable to 1h for an extra write fee); Gemini's explicit caches let you set your own TTL with per-hour storage pricing. So your 20-minute coffee break is usually fine on OpenAI, a cold cache on default Anthropic, and whatever you paid for on Gemini. Adding an "average gap between messages" input that derates the hit rate per provider is a really good idea — putting it on the list. Thanks!

The Greenhouse and the Lens: Two Modes of Agentic AI Work

$100/month * 12 months is 1200/year. Yeah, normal working people even in the USA don't have that extra money to spend. And let's be realistic: anyone doing the "greenhouse" method probably has both Anthropic and OpenAI $200/month subscriptions, otherwise, this is going to use up your tokens pretty fast. So $4800/year to have this as a normal practice that you do. The median household income in the US is $64000/year.

Google DeepMind dismantles AlphaFold team

False dichotomy. The books could have been digitized WITHOUT being destroyed. There’s no reason to assume that digital ebooks/documents will be accessible or readable to anyone in say 75 years. A physical book will be just as accessible today, as it will be practically forever. Okay there’s the acid paper thing but still… there’s no reason for Anthropic to destroy the books.

Cursor removed cost information from the usage page and CSV export

There's an env var you can set to tell it when to compact. It's especially helpful for models with big context that lose coherence much earlier.
