The economic value may be real but the profits may not be. One thing that's clear is that there is no leading vendor in this space and there may never be one. To some extent premium models can charge a premium price but it's going to be a competitive market and the likes of Anthropic and OpenAI will not be able to sustain monopoly pricing.

The Hugging Face incident and the road ahead

Yep, and it led to some very public hand wringing, press releases, pearl clutching news headline and thus PR for both companies -- I had computer illiterate family members asking me what a Hugging Face was -- then a very public "visit to go see SamA", a friendly hand shake between CEOs, and lo and behold now HF gets a giant fat acquisition.
