If you read more of Zitron's work, he says that there's little demand for the AI compute power outside of OpenAI and Anthropic. If they are bled dry, then the hyperscalers will not have enough customers for the data centers which they have blown so much capex spend on and will have to soon go into debt to ensure they can be built. The GPUs and the high bandwidth memory they use have little use other than to run and train these LLMs.
So right towards the end Zitron says it isn't clear what Google, MS and Amazons plan is. But he just finished explaining that Anthropic and Open AI are paying for them to build data centers, and implied that on face value, this was to rent the data centers back to Anthropic and Open AI. Seems to me they are just bleeding them dry so that when the money runs out for Anthropic and Open AI, they will be left with data centers that the can run their own (or open) models.
it seems perfect for that - maintaining coherence over 30s-1min type window is achievable and so many ads are built on unrealistic premise to begin with. To me, just reducing the cost alone seems secondary, far more important is putting the actual creative and marketing people directly in control of the output. Maybe the end result still gets sent to a pro studio for final production, but letting the true stakeholders directly create what they want could be a killer app. It may also be a terrible idea, like Homer Simpson's car - but that won't stop it being successful.
I think the big problem is administrative capacity. There are better run governments than we have in the US. The contempt for the state is a self-fulfilling prophecy. The state is incompetent because many of us believe it is inevitable that it will be. Compensation is just a part of it; coherent administration with continuity is even more important.
The funny thing is that in some cases using a different harness with the subscription plan could actually be very good for Anthropic: e.g. if I were to use smol with Opus, it could use fewer tokens than CC for the same task. People on subscription plans burning fewer tokens is a good thing for Anthropic. The only downside for Anthropic that I can see is that hitting your limits more often (while using CC) could make you want to upgrade plans, and a more efficient harness could keep you from doing that. But I can't imagine the cost (to Anthropic) of those inefficient tokens is worth it to them.
If you have dependents that are children, I feel there is a moral consideration. If you have earned $1M and then take the family to live who-knows-where slowly drawing on that $1M.. will your children be able to replicate your success? Will they be able to earn their own $1M? Or will leading this new life significantly impair their prospects? To me this is the most critical problem with the "move somewhere crazy cheap" plan. I feel a parent owes their children at least somewhat similar opportunities as they themselves had. If you got to work as " high flying white collar tech worker ", but the only option your children have is " subsistence fisherman ", you have wronged them.
There are thriving Ai video communities who are trying to replicate big budget productions with indie resources. Look up Gossip Goblin. There's a parallel explosion of memes at the same time, like Balenciaga Harry Potter
I also want to believe that Cursor team working on harnesses for much longer then openAI and Anthropic can deliver better results overall. Claude code is being pretty much vibe-coded slop doesn’t give a feel of a good product.
From a job listing I saw here on the front page today. Instantly repulsive: > About the role > "Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in event of success" > You gotta be in founder mode. > Next.js web / React Native app. / Supabase, firebase, and Prisma. / Nest.js for WhatsApp / Open AI and Anthropic APIs for agents / Solidity and web3.js for Smart contracts. / A lot of Typescript. It is a reference, but seemingly also sincere, at least to a non-trivial extent. Edit: I do not mean this to imply the same company as in the OP
I don't mean replicating the exact order of results, I mean I cannot replicate any of the alleged bugs. When you're reporting bugs and especially when you're making such a strongly-worded claim, it's best practice to be as detailed as possible. The claim is "a huge majority" of queries are fundamentally breaking logical operators. My point is that if you're reporting a bug you claim is so systemic it has made the product useles, sharing just one cropped screenshot with zero details about the actual query isn't very helpful.
google results haven't been deterministic since pretty much forever now, even if you had the exact URL, exact geographic location, a user profile with the same history, it's not guaranteed you will be able to replicate
> faster than Claude will take money out of your pocket and into theirs Damn, and I thought Anthropic was fast.
I've tried repeatedly and I cannot replicate any of your results. No matter what I search for, the date filter works. What were you searching for? Please share your full queries and have screenshots that capture the URL as well. edit: You also say this occurs in the "huge majority" of the times you search. You give one cropped screenshot that does not even show your own query. As a journalist, please specify whether you intended for "huge majority" to be taken literally or figuratively. How many searches have you run and how many have one of these bugs?
At best this is a small piece IMO, but this does look like a piece of it, well done. At least based on my own experience exposing sys prompts from niche llm models in my saas niche. Should be higher upvoted. For those asking for proof, unfortunately it simply isn’t possible short of anthropic employee disclosure. All I know is that this is exactly how LLMs tend to leak: provide info they didn’t realize was sys prompt related and thus leak what they aren’t supposed to leak within their own current context window.
Just in case you are interested in any facts ... The Trump administration, having first blocked China from buying NVIDIA H100's, has since done a U-turn and is now allowing them to buy the more powerful NVIDIA H200, on a case-by-case basis. Now, the CHINESE government is blocking Chinese companies from buying these H200s, at least in part because it turns out that being denied US tech has been a great accelerator for Chinese tech, with Huawei now producing the entirely domestic Ascend 950 chip, which according to NVIDIA's Jensen Huang performs about the same as NVIDIA's own H100 (which while not NVIDIA's most powerful is still plenty capable, and is what Elon Musk's Colossus-1 data center mostly uses, currently being rented out to Anthropic).
I find just going for a walk in nature, after walking for 2 hours something happens with my brain. I'm more calm, relaxed, focused, and coherent in my inner thoughts. I think it takes around 2 hours of inner monologue and thinking about all the problems I'm facing in my life until I feel like I'm done and I can let them go, or I've gone over them enough.
Good enough for what? Certainly good enough to direct people to the correct links for their platform. And, to me at least, to signal ahead of time that it’s a Claude-flavored game. Personally I’m not much for those (I don’t really snack on games) but I know people who enjoy burning through them. And “Claude-game” does feel like a steadily-more-coherent genre, with its own aesthetic language and high- and low-quality examples. But of course it all comes back to the same old open-source questions. Is it marketing if you’re not selling anything? Does somebody have to be good at—or care about—writing or marketing in order to share their GPL game with the public for free? When you have a lot of interdepended systems it is not always possible. In our case our test environment cannot be replicated locally on developer machines because it integrates to various 3rd parties to which we only have one set of test credentials.
Obviously vibecoded but interesting nevertheless. The agent left everything marked as untested in the README but the output snippets toward the bottom imply that it got something working enough to log in and run some commands. Nobody is going to mistake this for a carefully crafted port of Linux but it at least serves as a proof of concept. The real downside of the vibecoding is that we don’t get any helpful information about what it took to get it done with thoughtful analysis from a human. Just a chunk of code in a GitHub repo with some half-coherent README. There’s a docs folder, but the documentation about the MMU part just says that there are two MMUs across a couple lines of notes. Okay, great.
Yeah, it's a pretty fascinating architecture. I already have a side project called AppDeck where I've been buliding out a WebDAV server and a suite of HTML apps that know how to save modified copies of themselves back to the server. I've been using it for a couple of years, and the suite is growing - tools, apps, games, etc. My son had written a game like this called "Quantum Chain" that had basic leaderboard functionality. That was the first app we ported: the platform injects the webcdx.js shim, and we update Quantum Chain to post messages to it when someone finished a game with a high score. This is replicated out to the relays the same way every message in the group chat is. When the app fires up, Delta/ArcaneChat replay all messages that are typed for that app back to it, and it…
Methodology: HN Search returns recent public items matching a monitored company name. AIIStack stores a short normalized excerpt and the original link, deduplicates by company/provider/item ID, and creates an activity signal only after a threshold of newly observed records. Review the original discussion before making a decision.
