Show HN: APIMart: Discounted AI API Aggregator for GPT-5, Sora 2

Is this one of those proxies that route to a pool of coding plans? That's the only way to get lower rates than the official Anthropic/OpenAI APIs.

When Genius Fails: The Intellectual Arrogance of the AI Labs

Wait is this real? Did a random 25yo get 45B under management because he got some interviews after getting fired from OpenAI? I missed all of this and it almost seems like performance art to me.

GLM-5.3: Frontier coding with emergent cyber capabilities

> This makes perfect sense, but that conflicts with the impression put forward by Anthropic and OpenAI (in particular) that they alone occupy 'frontier model' spots. Not necessarily. Even near the frontier, we don't really have a total ordering of capabilities, but a partial order. And even frontier models make plenty of mistakes. Combined with the randomness inherent in searching large codebases for vulnerabilities or correctness issues, it is entirely plausible that even much weaker models (and GLM-5.2 isn't even weak) can stumble upon issues that stronger models missed. My current hypothesis – for which I have only limited evidence, unfortunately – is that it is better to have multiple reasonably powerful (but not necessarily frontier) models looking for issues than just one very po…

GLM-5.3: Frontier coding with emergent cyber capabilities

OpenAI was bragging the other day about how HLE on Cerebras only took 11 hours. But you're saying if they just spun up a separate cheapo VM for each task, it would have finished faster and cheaper?

GLM-5.3: Frontier coding with emergent cyber capabilities

This is a coherent explanation for why federal model censorship has started with cyber capabilities. But this GLM model release is an in-your-face challenge to that policy. They now have to either set models free or impose a censorship regime that will put anyone not under it at an advantage. Or muddle along in the middle as usual.

Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with?

This is a fair comment, although I would add that is not my expectation personally. I think nondeterminism does not have to be the same as non-coherency - i.e. just because something is randomly sampled does not mean the result has to be incoherent or inconsistent. Also, if we speak purely about LLM based on how they are implemented now, I feel that is different than speaking about artificial intelligence. The field of AI is much more than just an LLM by itself, and the promise of these companies is not just LLM, whether the underlying models are limited to that technology or not. FWIW, I have built rule based expert systems, used logic based reasoning systems like NASA CLIPS or rete-algorithm based systems, mathematical/symbolic solvers, written plenty of terrible case/conditio…

Dear people who work at the airport

I had an older/seemingly quite skilled bike mechanic look at my bike, who was happy to deal with my vague gestures about squeaky doohickeys and answer any questions. They knew enough to know what normal people don’t know, though, and how to get from there to what matters. I think the sort of lingo-centric scoffing “expertise” is a defensive posture that near-novices tend to take, to scare off further questions. You see it in every field, and we should all be careful not to replicate it in our own.

Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with?

Claude writes like a guy at a firm I used to work with in the 90s; he was my employer's "visionary"; he'd worked at a whole lot of different companies on both sides of the Atlantic in inexplicably high-placed roles given that he was often bluffing, and was considered a lucky hire of a rising star. He'd be called into meetings with high end clients to spout off. He really needed you to know he understood, but very often he didn't. I think it's likely that LLMs adopt the tone and style of their developers' communication culture. If you assume this is the case, you can infer quite a bit about the differences between OpenAI, Anthropic and Google DeepMind. I am more and more clear about this given the way Muse Glimmer writes. Like a talented, slightly snarky guy who is maybe a bit of a dick bu…

We replaced Redis with MySQL for inventory reservations and it scaled

I wonder if the human training process amplified this effect. I like to imagine there's an OpenAI RLHF trainer in Kenya whose name we'll never know who really likes this style of writing and is solely responsible for LLM voice. I know that's not how it works, but it would make for a fun story. And you know what? That's not annoying--that's brave.

GLM-5.3: Frontier coding with emergent cyber capabilities

OpenAI now makes it easy to join their verified security program. Took me 5 minutes, and I was able to get GPT to do a full end-to-end pen test

Small models can be super smart. Big models mostly give you baked in world knowledge, domain flexibility and long context stability/coherence. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Fable level smarts in a coding model that fits in 24GB by next year, but it'll be a savant style coder that needs in context learning, and it'll get very wonky after >100-200k tokens consumed.

AI Generated 3D Models Flood Market, but Almost No One Is Buying Them

We have AI sculpting and animating in the same way that we have AI illustrations - it’s better than the average human but miles and miles away from a professional artist. Most of the feel of a game requires intentional and consistent artistic design, which AI cannot yet replicate, 2D or 3D.

Ah sorry - I misunderstood. Thanks for explaining it. Have not heard of Paseo nor Kepler, and have never tried Zed. Yeah I too assumed if I'm to try use OpenAI subscription outside Codex, or Anthropic subscription outside Claude Code - I'd get my account banned it's agains their rules. So I have never looked how using the whole harness from outside looks like either (except for 'claude -p'). Interesting. BTW I see now https://docs.z.ai/devpack/tool/codex Zai added OpenAI compatible end point.

DeepSeek peak/off-peak pricing update

As much as I've been previously inclined to do this, with frontier models displaying the cyber-aggression that OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta have reported, it's become quite feasible one could produce a "malicious" LLM. Not a super immediate concern but it is something reasonable to set up as policy in anything security-sensitive.

Pi Security – Codex Security without all the bloat

OpenAI recently released Codex-Security. We simplified it based on what we use in our own products and put it in the PI harness. We will release data on DeepSeek v4 and GLM-5.3 performance soon, but so far it's probably the best open-source vulnerability detection tool out there right now. The idea is the same as Codex Security. 1. Build a threat model 2. Launch a lot of probing agents looking into the security based on the threat model 3. Deduplication 4. Validation 5. Severity and likelihood calibration We did a deep dive article here on it as well https://x.com/GustavHartz/status/2084926544800035266

I’ve read a few different accounts, including OpenAI’s own admission, that Terra Medium or higher will likely produce better results than Luna xhigh and cost about the same or less.

DeepSeek peak/off-peak pricing update

Why would it save the stock market? Cheaper models if anything transfers more value to hardware companies and datacentre companies. The two companies that would be most affected are OpenAI and Anthropic, which aren't public.
