Location: Greater New York (US Citizen) Remote: Yes Willing to relocate: No About: I am a Generative AI Engineer who also happens to be pretty hands-on across the full stack development. Most of my recent work has been building RAG pipelines, AI agents, and natural language search — using LangChain, LangGraph, and vector databases like Pinecone and ChromaDB — with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini APIs under the hood. I care deeply about shipping GenAI features that hold up beyond the demo stage. Beyond GenAI, I am working on the full stack — React/TypeScript on the frontend, Node.js or ASP.NET Core APIs on the backend, and AWS/Azure for infra. I like owning things end-to-end and building software that's simple and reliable. Technologies: • Generative AI: LLMs, LangChain, LangGraph,…

Also: Qwen 3.8 27B coming next week! Also: Qwen 3.8 Max is competitive with CURRENT best models from OpenAI and Anthropic (and Google, and Facebook, insofar they're even still in the race)
I find Marcus on this, something approaching sophistry and rhetorical showmanship in service of maintaining an ideological position, for reasons unrelated to the nominal intellectual clarity. To sharpen that, I think he's (obviously) interested in maintaining his own brand as "thought leader" and this necessitates de rigeur defense of particular postures. Sometimes this is easy because the facts warrant it; other times, a bit of rhetorical license is required to preserve nominal coherence and (at least, for the moment) hold certain lines. This is one of the latter cases, and it's not subtle. One of the celebrated properties of many intellectual advances or inventions in whatever domain is precisely that it appears obvious in hindsight. It is quite cynical to leverage consensus distrust of…
What size project an AI can complete on its own is IMHO not an interesting question. The AIs and harnesses are getting good enough that quite large things can be built, primarily as a function of cost. The interesting question in my view is what is the largest system an AI can maintain over a long time horizon -- while keeping a coherent architecture that adapts and responds well to change. All the while remaining performant, scalable, and understandable to humans. I am unaware of what is the currently longest-lived vibe coded project but it cannot be more than a few years old. So to my mind, we don't have very much real data yet.
A bit idealistic for the crowd here but has some good points. The other day I wanted to build personal apps for my Kobo device. It has a single ~800Mhz core and 512 MB of RAM, probably eight times less than a rasbperry pi, but runs a Linux. I wanted to break free from watching my laptop screen for long Claude sessions partially due to degrading eyesight and have a sidekick for approvals streamed to the Kobo. Apart from the Claude and Codex permissions sidekick done via hooks, I ended up building an entire SDK, an HN client, an RSS discovery & reader and an audiobook generator using deep research and ElevenLabs API all running on it. Anyone using an LLM can now personalize it for their own Kobo device, which might have some nuances over my Clara BW. Significantly less work I hope than doin…

Nice and congratulations Ages a ago I used it on Coherent OS via dial up to sign into a Sun Server at work that I used for USENET and general internet access. When I dialed in the server would hang up and call be back so I would avoid Long Distance Charges. ckermit handled that itself, fun times. I purchased the book to help with the project, I should go and dig it out :)

To say that you're building agents, is based on a way of viewing things that isn't at all pervasive. Some might say you're building a customer support chatbot. To talk of building agents as a common activity makes sense if you use LangChain I guess, where its title is "Open Source AI Agent Framework | Build Agents Faster". But for instance, YC just released qm, and in its README it talks about customizing the agent, which is quite a bit different from just casually dropping the phrase "I'm building an agent". https://github.com/yc-software/qm

It's perfectly coherent. For instance; mRNA vaccines changed your life, why are you ignoring it to bloviate about LLMs? How is that coherent? AI has had a much smaller impact on humanity, relatively speaking. Suffice it to say that HN is not well-suited for people obsessing over a pet topic, like you seem to be. Many of us have nothing against LLMs, and are embarrassed by your passionate and fruitless defense of the technology. If AI is so great, go make a name for yourself with it and stop bothering us for attention. Go on, stop wasting your valuable time and change humanity. We'll wait.

Tonic AI ( https://tonic.ai ) builds the data infrastructure behind modern AI. We generate the synthetic environments that agents are trained and tested in, and we de-identify real enterprise data so it can be used safely in training and evaluation. Eight years in, we work with frontier AI labs pushing the edge of what models can do, and with hundreds of enterprises including Fidelity, Comcast, eBay, and Vanguard, on the data problems that sit at the center of where AI is going next. We are looking for a data scientist with 8+ years experience (or 3+ with relevant PHD). In this role you will: ++ Design and build the systems that generate longitudinally coherent synthetic environments for agent training and evaluation, including persona modeling, task generators, and verifiable g…

Methodology: HN Search returns recent public items matching a monitored company name. AIIStack stores a short normalized excerpt and the original link, deduplicates by company/provider/item ID, and creates an activity signal only after a threshold of newly observed records. Review the original discussion before making a decision.
